visit knee moment
since i have a guest coming to visit, i thought i would not be able to practice this morning. but my friend took a later train, so i had two extra hours this morning. i continued with the asymmetric sequence of VK. last sunday i did the full primary. i didn't complain in my blog about it, but my left knee hurt very much the day after and i was limping at work for four days. the next time i do that sequence, i will need to modify and not attempt the full expression of binding asanas. the VK routines feel healing. i can't jump on the ashtanga bandwagon. this is how my body is acting at the moment.

Ouch! Easy on the knees! I am also having weird knee/thigh issues. Even when I pay attention specifically "listening in" on the knee during practice, it does not hurt until hours after the practice is done. I suspect endorphine and excitement about practice completely drown out my ability to detect discomfort/injury.
I too have a knee problem. Pretty sure it's coming from my right hip, and that a bursa is inflamed stopping any lotus or janusirasana action. Getting better. At first I couldn't walk up or down stairs either. Garbha pindasana is the one that can really get me. Ice helped me. Have you been to a 'regular' doctor to find out exactly what is up, I find that helps me a lot in imaging the problem and knowing what to do to heal. Mind you your VK practice seems to be working. xx
Dear Yyogini
during the practice, i do forget about the knee in asanas that i can bend the leg, but in some i can't. i would say i'm not exactly limping the next few days, but walking with pain and difficulty. a good practice sometimes makes you forget the body. haha.
Dear Esther
hmm, tight hips would definitely be a source of the problem. i think my problem started a year ago when i was pedaling hard on the bike without gears. then i bought an electric bike. however, the problem did not exactly go away. i haven't done garbha pindasana in its full expression in a year. maybe i could see a doctor, but it would be more prudent to go to a sports doctor directly. my primary care physician has good bedside manner, but he usually just asks questions, determines what something is and what it's not and informs me. i don't think he would know too much about muscular problems. maybe i'll check who is in my plan with the new health insurance starting this month.
cheers,
Arturo
