My yoga tent fantasy; this could become a reality.
Gosh, the mental games going on during yoga practice. It’s cold outside, like 30degrees Fahrenheit. It's not warm inside my room. So i'm wondering if I bought fabric and made a tent inside the room, would i be able to create a practice space that would be easy to maintain warm. it would not be high enugh for surya namaskars though unless i use some poles in the middle. I guess you could call this a yoga fantasy.
I could make a tent out of inexpensive electric blankets, one for "roof", one for "floor" and four for "walls". It could result in an electrifying practice of mostly seated asanas. What do you think of my fantasy? It would not be that expensive to try it out. A cheap electric blanket costs about 10USD. Ah, but maybe these are not long enough.
Maybe I could buy a bunch of regular king size blankets and start joining them with heavy duty laundry clips. I know! It could be like a sweat lodge without the campfire. Ashtanga would provide the internal heat. I think I just need two
bamboo poles, some blankets and some laundry clips and, presto, a practice tent. whaddayousay? Maybe I'll wait until after the Xmas holiday to plan this.
Actually, I should be able to do this because I have a bookcase in one side of the room and a tall dresser of the same height on the other side. If I rearrange them across from each other, they could support two bamboo poles on which I could drape some blankets and make a toasty practice place. The tent structure would shun out any cold drafts. Hmmm. Or maybe I could just buy a readymade tent from Decathlon and also use it in the future when traveling. Those are small, though, for sleeping, not for standing.
Hmm, I could tie some poles together in a square pattern for the roof. This could rest on the bookcase on one end of the room and on the dresser on the other. Then I could buy some burlap from the cloth market and drape it around on all sides. Yea. Hmm, or maybe just use a bunch of inexpensive sleeping bags as the "walls" they they have "insulation".

uhm, no one has commented on my idea, but i think it's brilliant. sleeping bags would provide excellent insulated "walls" for a practice tent within the room.
It's growing on me Arturo, perhaps because i'm cold at the moment. I partitioned off part of the big downstairs room to make my shala, and have a pole going from the bookcase to the door with big heavy curtains on it.
Perhaps you could do the sury's and standing sequence outside the tent then strip off some layers and go inside for seated, bet you fall asleep in savasana though.
