Harry merry cheery
We were treated to see the new Harry Potter movie. It was a nice movie. I seemed to be swaggering around town afterwards in my electric bike and pouncing elf-like around my room. The movie had the effect of my forgetting momentarily where I was, but hearing Chinese spoken on the street brought me to reality. In one scene the characters in the movie wish each other "Merry Christmas." This made a friend ask a British colleague that, since this was a British film, shouldn't the wishes have been, "Happy Christmas?" Indeed. That's the Hollywood influence, he thought. I didn't know in Britain people say, "Happy Christmas", and thought that greeting in a card I received a few years back was just being cheery.
