arrived year time

Bamboo Knight was doing a full practice of Intermediate when I arrived. I was wondering if he would Karandavasana and he did. I'm glad for his practice. I wondered when I would have my own Intermediate practice back, in all its glorious imperfection. Will I give shala practice another year and see if my body comes to standing from Urdvha Danurasana and Kapotasanas to perfection in that time? I don't know. My room is difficult to keep warm at the moment to make it cozy for self practice at home. I miss the benefits of inversions and miss the good that Gomukasana does to the arms of people who spend the day on a computer. No, I don't have time for throwing that in by itself in the evening.

Vetty Gardener practiced to my right. She sprays her green mat thoroughly as if she was in the garden watering an azalea hedge. To my left was Sandee D'Oranje. I could learn from her coming to standing in UD. If I went to Mysore, I should seek out Venkatesh to get the flexibility in my dropbacks.

Boddiba talks a lot about Vekitesh, in her last trip I think she was also hoping for some progress and in the end it was not what she expected, it was great to follow her whole story there last january. I have a feeling that the we only "advance" when there is an opening of the stars or the stars align or something... not sure Venkitesh would do it... but we can always wishful think I guess :-)

Dear Claudia
I agree with you. My musings are that it might happen when we least expect it because we might be out of practice or tired and it might surprise us that we achieved something we were working on for the longest time. I actually would prefer to visit Rolf and Marci over there.

Hello Arturo,
good to hear about your practice. I think the practice is like the waters of the Yangtze, to use a tired Chinese analogy: Sometimes it flows in mighty swells, sometimes it seems to stagnate and hardly move. But the important thing is to keep moving, and you'll reach the ocean one day. Actually, since you are in China now, this might not be such a bad analogy for you :-)

I have a really ignorant question for both of you, Claudia and Arturo: Who is Venkatesh? I hear a lot about him/her, but have no idea who he/she is.

Dear Nobel

Let's hope my practice keeps growing. Man, you're chakrabandasaning already? You must be super flexy.

In Mysore, there are other teachers of ashtanga-like yoga, to distinguish it from Iyengar-like yoga. These include Venkatesh and Sheshadri. I have a link to Venkatesh's website on the right hand of my blog. The link for Sheshadri's site is this one.
Cheers,
Arturo
