I was told to check out the Hanazono Jinja Shrine; it turned out to be a block from the hotel. Although I'm not an expert, I could tell this one is a Shinto one, from the bright colors and the archway.
I am most familiar with Japanese Zen Buddhism, since that was the practice I came to follow in San Francisco. On the way home before the end of the day, I recognized a Buddhist Temple.
It had a nice stone statue of a Bottisatvha and housed many tombs in the surrounding grounds.
Other things I noticed, not related to religion, where strange signage in buildings such as this one.
I always find it amusing when traveling through Asia to see American actors selling things, such as Tommy Lee Jones here pushing beer. (Edit: Boss is a coffee drink. 'scuse me, Tommy Lee.)
